If she has no idea that Teresa's son, Gabriel, might be staying with her former landlord somewhere in Manila, she might have thought that Santino is indeed the kid she is looking for. Upon his return to the monastery, Santino immediately informs the priests of his new found friend, taking them by surprise. They used to think that Teresa is Santino's mother, but after Father Anthony received a confirmation that she isn't, he insists to keep the said detail from their foster child Santino.
