He paces the library like a newly caged lion, while an anxious valet dodges books and bric-a-brac and urges a visit to the dentist. Argument at last prevails and Stockson starts for the dental office as cheerfully as a small boy on his way to the woodshed with father. Dr. Flip, the dental surgeon, boasts the D.D.S. that marks the expert, but he has a lot of trouble getting at the molar and has to tie his patient into the chair before he can even touch the aching tooth. The roots hold and Stockson makes a few comments on Flip's skill that brings Daisy, Flip's assistant and the girl he wants to marry, on the scene. She is shocked at the language, and to cut short the performance prevails upon Flip to let her have a trial. She gives one skillful twist and the deed is done; but Daisy has extracted more than a bicuspid from the rich client, for she drew his heart as well. He returns to see her again and prevails upon her to become Mrs. Stockson, while Flip advertises for an assistant and is particular to specify that it shall be a man.
