The Van Jurgens, three brothers burdened with caring for their catatonic father after the recent death of their mother, and facing foreclosure on the family home, embark on a journey to find a fortune. The situation goes from bad to worse, when they end up forced to smuggle narcotics across the American border. Meanwhile, Dale and Charlene are a brother and sister team working for the Canadian Border Patrol. Dale's fragile mental state begins to crack after an accident on patrol, and Charlene struggles to keep his condition a secret from their suspicious father, who happens to be their Chief Officer.
