Meanwhile Angela, still sick, is taken by a syndicate headed by Tatang (Amante Pulido). She is under the care of Dos (Nash Aguas). Angela learned that children who tried to escape are being marked. Hence the name of Dos. In the meantime while in the streets, Anna is picked up by a man in the car named Ronaldo ('Allan Paule (I)') who finds her beautiful. Upon knowing her situation, Ronaldo instructed Betsy (Maricar De Mesa) to adopt Anna and will call her Victoria Varela. Dos is teaching Angela to clean cars on the road. Angela approaches a passerby thinking that that is her sister but the syndicate thinks she is escaping. Dos is punished for this. Anna and Angela visit the hospital where they are last being together. Dos and Angela try to escape the syndicate but Dos fails. Angela is found and brought home by Hermes (John Arcilla), husband of Sonia (Arlene Muhlach) -- a couple reeling from the death of their daughter Nina. She is nicknamed Gelai. Gelai now a young adult (Bea Alonzo) run errands for her adopted mother's sewing business. Caloy (Enchong Dee) is Gelai's supportive best friend who is in love with her.
