One day, Paul sees a beautiful woman in a bakery, Elena, kneading bread. Captivated, he agrees to take baking classes. Elena's co-worker, Awen, teaches him to make pastry. Paul falls in love with Elena, but is heartbroken to learn she is getting married. He returns to a life of solitude and dry, prickly equations. He's still no closer to fixing his equation. Awen visits with a tin of cookies. Paul has a flash of insight, arranges the cookies like a jigsaw puzzle, and discovers the solution to his mathematical problem.
