Nothing he does will rid the birds, until his wife creates a scarecrow that keeps them all at bay. From then on the crops the farmer grows are wonderful. However, he chooses not to share his new found wealth with his wife. One stormy night the wife decides to shelter the scarecrow from the rain by dressing it in the farmer's coat.
