Under the surface is a heartwarming story about the relationship between Ragnar, an ailing old man, and his daughter, Hrönn, who is picking him up from hospital. Hrönn thinks that she is taking her father straight home but he wants to buy a big box of chocolate to thank the nurses at the hospital for their kindness and care.
