In college he was recognized and awarded as an artist with much potential, and he too, believed in himself. V.C. daily asserts himself in creating a masterpiece, but it's not so easy. Time passes, and now he's in his forties, still without a masterpiece. Manshik Kang, V.C.'s college classmate/sponsor, has had enough. He has invested in V.C., recognizing the skills in his college painting, but with little success afterward, Manshik complains that he's no longer able to support the artist. Then, he comes across V.C.'s work in progress. He likes it. V.C. is not fond of Manshik's tendency to see paintings as nothing but cash, but he likes the compliments, not having heard any for a while now.
