Sanako, like many young Asian girls, goes through the pressure of being a young woman in a strict Asian family as well as an abusive relationship with her significant other. After her death, Sanako's mother, Mrs. Hamada grows lonelier and lonelier and starts hallucinating as if Sanako were still there.
