KURM is one of the remaining independently owned/operated radio stations left in the United States. Like KURM itself, owner Kermit Womack is the last of a dying breed. His Northwest Arkansas listeners know him simply as "The Colonel." Womack is indeed a retired military Colonel with quite opinionated views on government, religion, and any other topic that might arise on his daily talk show, Party Line. A program he often refers to as "the soapbox of the air."
