Gypsy Joe, the real thief, gathers his followers to seek vengeance on the train crew for having thrown him off the train. In the fight which follows Gypsy Joe's followers are vanquished, but the leader succeeds in overcoming Jack, the engineer, and making way with the engine. Jack, who lies stunned on the floor of the cab, gradually recovers his senses and pounces on Joe. A blow renders Gypsy Joe unconscious, but a second later Jack also drops once more to the floor of the cab, for the struggle has been too much for his ebbing strength. Train men notice the wild engine and word is sent ahead to Helen to derail it to save the passenger. At the moment Helen is confessing to Auditor Blake that she believes his son guilty of the theft. Blake pleads with her not to derail the engine, and they determine on a daring plan. As the engine approaches they climb into Blake's auto and start down the track. Helen climbs out on the hood and when the engine comes within reach quickly leaps to the cowcatcher, while the auto swerves from the track and the path of the onrushing locomotive. In another second Helen brings the engine to a stop within inches of the oncoming passenger. As they prepare to bandage Gypsy Joe's wound his bandanna head covering is removed, and with it is disclosed the stolen money. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
