A.A. ("Scotty") Allan, the greatest dog trainer in Alaska, prepares to ship a consignment of dogs from Nome to France via the United States. Lieut. Rene Haas, of the French army, who selected the dogs for army use, inspects sleds before shipment. The dogs are chained to a long rope, and led in packs to the steamship. A train of more than 100 dogs on a 350-foot rope is probably the longest dog train ever seen. The dogs are placed on the scow from which they are taken by aerial trolley to the steamship. Written by
