They do not touch on their own problems, but instead talk about trivial things or about their missing brother Dieter, who was put up for adoption by his mother before the building of the Berlin Wall. Being left alone with the search for him by the East German authorities, the problem seems to be getting so big that all the other difficulties the family have got fade into the background.
