The news reports outbreaks of mass violence and grotesque scenes of cannibalism. People are being urged to stay in their homes and to do what they can to survive the night, as the authorities attempt to regain control. Meanwhile, a group of friends have begun to gather at the home of one of their peers (Alistair) for a yearly celebration and costume party. Isolated and alone, their evening is disrupted by the arrival of one of the missing guests, Dianna. Bruised and bloodied after encountering one of the undead, Dianna now desperately tries to make the others understand what is happening on the outside. As the state of the outside world becomes clearer and the friends work together to secure the home, old conflicts and secrets begin to emerge and the cracks in the various relationships begin to widen.
