Italia 2015. * Rome was the capital of the Roman Empire at the height of its great achievements - when the Empire extended throughout most of Europe and part of the East. The capital was then called "Caput Mundi", which in Latin means "Capital of the World". Even today, the Italians often refer to Rome as "Caput Mundi".
