In fact Donna's motive is not out of principle but fear of being cut out of her workaholic mother's life, whilst Nicky's work obsession is to find the cure to prevent Donna from dying of the hereditary illness that killed her father.The two are reconciled after Peter has acted as go-between. Lyle defeats a greedy developer out to evict a group of nuns - who are a hit in the local pub where they are temporarily housed - and Beatrice tells Alan the artist that he is not Petra's father, before getting a call from the man who probably is.
