These sign boards at the crossroads Louis exchanges, aiming to have her uncle take the wrong road and perish in the desert. Three months previous, believing himself to be dying, he makes a will in her favor, giving no consideration to Helen, the younger sister. Shortly after he recovers and Louise is anxious to get him out of the way. Raving in delirium, with lacerated hands and ravished for thirst and hunger, the old uncle is blindly groping his way in the merciless desert. Meanwhile. Helen, alarmed at the uncle's failure to return, sets out in search, and a young prospector, recently come to the camp, helps her take up the trail. Coming to the crossroads the exchanging of the sign boards is detected and a handkerchief, unwittingly left behind by Louise, fixes her guilt. The uncle is resuscitated and taken back to the ranch house as Louise is mounting her horse to depart forever. The scene closes with lusty cheering of cowboys and Helen in the arms of the young prospector. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
