The story begins at a night when the retired engineer has just finished planning his new routine. However, to begin a new day, one has to pass through a long night, and so must he. As the night unfolds, sleepless and echoing with a forgotten melody, the mundane details of Khullar's life acquire a nostalgic significance. Then, there is his man-servant, a young rogue, tongue-in-cheek and the perfect foil for Khullar's personality.
