Because Hope's wounds were slow to heal, veterinarians had to amputate a leg. Her life still hangs in the balance, as doctors still have to get an infection under control. Dr. Yasmin Diepenbruck, in particular, is caring for the intensive care patient around the clock. She wants to save the young cat's life at all costs. Friends Eva Geissler and Nicole Fickinger, who found Hope, are also giving their all and have found like-minded people online who are accompanying Hope's treatment and providing financial support. When the battered kitten finally purrs, the rescuers shed tears of joy and relief. Happy the Horse: No Easy Task for Veterinarian Petersen On Sylt, veterinary assistant Sabrina Buhs brings her eleven-year-old Holsteiner mare Happy, whom she rescued from the slaughterhouse, to the Petersen Veterinary Practice for dental treatment. Happy has many ailments and refuses to be ridden, partly because her mouth is cramped. Stephanie Petersen wants to examine the bit and smooth down the edges. It's backbreaking work and no easy task for the vet: Happy must first be sedated - the sedation mustn't be too strong, otherwise the horse risks tipping over. Sabrina Buhs is tense - but her boss knows and appreciates her, and it's a matter of the heart for her to provide good medical care for her employees' favorites. Two Sylt Originals on a Beach Stroll In the afternoon, Stephanie Petersen is expecting two Sylt Originals: her friend Petra Pommerenk and Caspar. The Sylt taxi driver always takes the green noble parrot with her on her tours around the island. Today, Taxi-Petra is bringing the eloquent bird of paradise from Papua New Guinea to the practice for a pedicure. People on the island help each other out: Stephanie Petersens can't close the practice yet, so Petra Pommerek takes her dog Julie for a walk on the beach after Caspar's treatment. Yette is the youngest customs dog candidate in Germany. Birgit Esser is preparing her for training as a sniffer dog in the puppy program at the Bleckede Customs Dog School. But before she can become a proper customs dog, veterinarian Stephan Schlawinsky must confirm her suitability. In particular, her bone structure must be strong enough for future deployments, and she must be in perfect health. Trainer Birgit Esser is particularly attached to her Yette and is determined to ensure her four-legged friend completes her training. Stephan Schlawinsky's examination will decide Yette's fate.
