First of all, he has big plans for the new phase of his life: he can finally make up for a missed togetherness with his wife Charlotte, a successful scientist who will soon follow him into retirement, and write his long-awaited novel. The reality, however, soon turns out to be far less romantic: Charlotte has little time for her husband because of her job, and Peter can't even get past the first sentence in his novel. He spends a large part of his time in his regular café frustrated - not least because the young Jenny works there, who flirts with him in a friendly way. When one day his old friend Jens dies unexpectedly, Peter threatens to be thrown completely off course. He spends his days in a bathrobe, eating chips in front of the television and imagining that he is suffering from the first signs of a brain tumor - not an easy time for him. Charlotte is also in a quandary, having received the offer to head a research group in Brussels, a job she has always dreamed of. But can she put the joint plans with Peter on hold now of all times? She'll keep the whole thing to herself for now. But of course such secrecy cannot go well: Peter accidentally discovers her secret, an argument ensues, but also reconciliation again. Charlotte takes the job in Brussels. So everything could be fine again, but something has changed: The former dream couple is starting to drift apart. While Charlotte is preparing for her departure, Peter and his friends Ritschi (Guntbert Warns) and Klaus are reliving old rocker days and seem to have changed. Full of energy, he throws himself into working on his novel - and into flirting with the enchanting Jenny - and does not notice that he is jeopardizing his happy marriage.
