Meanwhile, Tomás Villamizar travels from the city to the same rural region of "los llanos", looking to connect with the memories of his deceased father, who died when Tomás was a small boy. His uncle refuses to let him stay at his place, forcing him to look for a job at Magdalena's ranch.
