It happens so in this case, and before the fond father can realize it the children resent it and shun one another. The daddies are flustered, and call in their friend, the parson, who gives them practical advice. They follow it by pretending to be angry with one another when they meet their offspring, they each instruct their own, violently, that there can be no marriage. The son and daughter are puzzled, and with true contrariness, oppose the parents, declaring great love for one another. There are several stormy scenes in which the parents demonstrate their sham anger, and finally, when they think they have carried it far enough, they both give in and pretend to wake up.
