After a quick day tour in New Delhi, we visited the magnificently painted Havelis of Shekhawati, in Jhunjhunu, Mandawa and Fatehpur. From there we visit the impressive fort Bikaner and the city's Jain temples ending the tour with music and dance in a village outside of Jaisalmer. "Land of Death" takes the viewer to Jaisalmer where we visit the fort, the palace and the cenotaphs of the maharajas. We continue to Jodhpur fort, the siege of the old Marwar territory, nicknamed "The Land of Death" ending up at Ranakpur where is located a jewel of a Jain temple, maybe the most beautiful in the entire world. "Sadhus and Many Camels" brings you first to the famous white palaces of Udaipur and continuing to the citadel city of Chittorgarh, three times the stage "jauhars" against the Mughals invaders. We ended the tour in a magnificent place, the holy city of Pushkar, an amalgam of holy and unholy people, during its famous camel fair. "The Mughals" opens in the pink Jaipur, a city of palaces, forts, markets and an astronomical observatory. Close by is the deserted city of Fatehpur Sikri, inhabited for only 15 years. We ended up in Agra, capital of the Mughal Empire, where we visit the world-renowned Taj Mahal and its nearby tomb of Akbar in Sikandra. See less
