On the flight he hands a letter to Matt and asks him to deliver it to his mother but on his arrival at the airport he escapes and throws himself in front of a lorry killing himself. Jennifer and Matt go to see Mrs. Conway and she gives them a file Jim compiled when he was a fugitive and which contains a signed affidavit stating that Jim was wrongly charged with the woman's murder and he was a convenient fall guy and wasn't near the victim when she died. Government minister Alex Zammit gave him money to say it was an accident but when the accident report came back it concluded it was murder and he went on the run. Asst Commissioner Mulholland hands the case back to the original investigator Mike Davies which infuriates Matt. Matt starts his own investigation and ends up being reprimanded by Stanley. Later Davies and Matt team up and find that the caretaker of the building where the girl died was also bribed and Minister Zammit is arrested. Elsewhere, Matt's dad hits the booze on the anniversary of his mother's disappearance. Meanwhile, Victoria Semple asks to see Jennifer about the shooting of her son Brett.
