The widowed nostalgic has not yet fully arrived at the new togetherness: Instead of helping Gabi to set up the common apartment, Werner is committed as a rescuer for his old local pub "Zur Traube", an example of how Berlin pubs are dying out. Landlord Lothar Schenker and his wife Regine have even sublet their apartment out of financial difficulties and are secretly sleeping in the garage. So it's no wonder that the problems affect Lothar's health. To prevent his friends from going bankrupt, Werner first drives in the open lids of the regular guests and takes a debtor who has been avoiding himself for a long time. The "captain" can rely on his colleagues like Ralle and Tarik as well as on Gabi, who helps the Schenkers reorganize their finances. The fact that everyone suddenly stands up for them releases new strength for Lothar and Regine. However, when Werner temporarily billets the host couple in the new apartment without asking Gabi beforehand, he goes too far with her. Now Werner has to master the next relationship crisis.
