Dan asks what has happened; Doc says that Teetering Rock has tottered and then stopped. Inspection shows that Ozzie the Oyster is at the base of the Rock, and that his hard shell has checked its teetering. Dan urges Doc to see whether Ozzie is injured; when Doc asks Ozzie to say Ah!, Ozzie frustrates and concerns Doc by instead mumbling through a shell that can barely be opened. Doc tells Dan to push the Rock back. Unseen by Dan or by Doc, Baron Barracuda demands to know why Trigger Fish didn't tell the Baron of Ozzie's blocking presence; Trigger explains that he wasn't asked. Dan says that he is unable to push the Rock off Ozzie. Doc tells Dan to rest, and expresses hope that Ozzie's pearl isn't damaged. Queried by Dan, Doc reports that Ozzie's pearl is as large as a turtle egg, the largest of all pearls. Ozzie mumbles apparent confirmation. Dan remarks that it would then be the most valuable in the world. Doc asks if Dan holds everything valuable, reminding Dan that he also has claimed that the gold on the ship of Skipper Kipper is valuable. The Baron overhears the conversation, and tells Trigger that if Dan wants the pearl, then the Baron wants it as well. Trigger asks how they might get it; the Baron says that he will find a method. Dan makes another try to push the Rock, then says that he will apparently not be able to do so with brute strength. Doc notes that someone has pushed it; Dan says that it was probably the Baron and Trigger. Doc asks why, then, cannot Dan push it back. Dan admits that he doesn't know. The Baron wickedly laughs that he knows the secret of Teetering Rock. Doc says that he will go for his bag. As he swims off, Dan asks Doc to find Finley. When Doc reaches the sign-post, he encounters and hails both Finley Haddock and Seabiscuit the Seahorse. Finley expresses relief that Doc is safe, and asks about Diver Dan. Doc says that Dan is fine but unable to free Ozzie the Oyster, who is trapped under Teetering Rock. Doc says that he is going for his bag, and asks Finley to go to Teetering Rock to assist Dan. Finley declares that he is on his way. Finley and Seabiscuit swimming together. Dan pushes futilely on the Rock. Then declares his inability to move the Rock. Finley arrives with Seabiscuit at that point. Finley lets Dan know that Doc has apprised him of the situation. Finley asks Ozzie if he is alright; Ozzie mumbles in response. Finley reassures Ozzie that he will soon be freed. Finley swims towards the top of the Rock, saying that the Rock must have some point at which it may be pushed to restore it to its earlier position. He finds the point, and is then easily able to push the Rock back into place. The Baron vents frustration at again being foiled. Trigger's attempts to console him are met with anger. The two swim away. Taking Ozzie from beneath the Rock, Dan says that he cannot wait to see the pearl. In conversation, he asserts to Finley that the pearl being the largest is the most valuable. Dan sets Ozzie in a safer place; Finley asks Ozzie to open and show his pearl to Dan. Ozzie does so, and it is indeed large. The Baron and Trigger, meanwhile, have swum to where they may spy on Dan's party. Trigger excitedly tells the Baron that he sees the pearl. The Baron silences Trigger, but Finley reports that he has heard something which he thinks might be the Baron and Trigger; Finley asks Dan what they should do. Dan notes that the two may be after the pearl too. He tells Finley and Seabiscuit that he has a plan that involves pretending to leave Ozzie behind. He asks for their support; Seabiscuit whinnies in the affirmative, and Finley agrees. Dan loudly announces to Finley that they must leave him but will return in about an hour. After the three have apparently left, Trigger and the Baron approach. Trigger greets Ozzie, who closes his shell. Trigger attempts jocular banter; the Baron tells him to proceed without jokes. Trigger attempts to coax Ozzie into opening up and showing his pearl. Written by Anonymous See less
