The maid looks up the number in the telephone directory, and finding a whole lot of John Smiths, calls several of them before her mistress finds out what she is doing. When the calls are received by wives of the wrong John Smiths, there is a general stampede to the house of the hussy, but things are soon explained when the right John Smith appears.
