Scientists from many disciplines, working together with the tribal river restoration crew spent two decades preparing the Elwha River for eventual dam removals. This truly visionary effort has resulted in the greatest number of Engineered Logjams ever installed in a watershed and, together with the dam removals begun in 2011, represents the largest restoration project for salmon recovery ever attempted. More importantly, this is a story of the Klallam People taking into their own hands the future health of their river, the salmon that depend on it, and the survival of their culture. See less
