As a baby, she was always left in the care of an old babysitter, while her father struggled to win his boxing matches and her mother went about doing her own business. She grows up with her father Mando and brother Darius. Jopay becomes eager to learn their sport to prove her independence and show that she can fight and stand up for herself and her family. She wants nothing more than her father's approval but no matter how hard she tries, Mando continues to make her feel unloved. She trains and strives to be an excellent boxer to make her father love her.
