Robert Luccioni opens the program by considering how to face discouragement and not lose joy over circumstances we cannot control. 'Are you defined by your circumstances?' is the theme of this month's program. The dramatizations that follows brilliantly demonstrates how three modern witnesses that face discouragement gain encouragement by meditating on how their circumstances are similar to that of Jonah's from biblical times. From the Netherlands we hear from an array of volunteers that helped build a new assembly hall. Their challenges, joy, and life changing experiences are spiritually refreshing. "Our past or present circumstances do not define our value before Jehovah". We then head to Greece where many refugees have settled. The local congregations made special arrangements to preach to them in their native language. Their uplifting experiences show how Jehovah cares for every individual. The report that follows is from the Democratic Republic of Congo. The deep poverty doesn't diminish them in the eyes of Jehovah. We see the heartwarming humanitarian aid being delivered by fellow Christians from France and how this is a source of faith building experiences not only for those delivering and receiving the aid, but also for us as spectators. We then hear of a deeply moving experience from Jim. At 25 Jim he was in prison sentenced to many years. This despite being raised as a witness. Learning to forgive himself and once again serve Jehovah with a clean conscious is certainly encouraging for those in similar circumstances. The music video is encouraging for those of us that have stumbled and need encouragement to get back up. The program ends with a post card greeting from the friends in Togo, Africa. See less
