A nice metaphor for the different routes that you can take. The main road is the paved way from A to B, the parallel road is an alternative route along which you will find allotments, secluded paths and orphaned industrial sites. At the Parallel Road in Delft, behind the railway station, actually quite central, stood for decades an old barn with courtyard and ramps on both sides. This barn was used by a group of carpenters and artists. While inside the people were working with attention and commitment, outside the trains and passengers passed by.
