Since they can never agree on anything - they argue over who will start reading. Gem hides the book in the Spookie jar and inadvertently sends them back in time... to Ancient Rome! Once they arrive, Gem has a hard time blending in and the two are instantly captured. They are commanded to a gladiator fight in the coliseum! The real gladiators try to teach them to work together but the ever-stubborn Gem and Sabrina don't listen.
