Cattle are raised in the interior and hides are an important export. Millions of pigs' bristles are exported. The Chinese are very fond of pork, and are experts in curing hams. In the river there is seen a forest of masts. Many of the boats are propelled by hand. For thousands of years the Chinese have been clever shipbuilders, and there are no better sailors on earth.
