Barbara receives a very personal 18th birthday gift from Mary. Unable to outbid Carter, who refuses to back down and attempts to lure Bill Riley away from Hammond, the directors consider a takeover of Carter's firm. Jennifer avoids Edward, and he seeks companionship elsewhere. Nancy Lincoln piques Mary's curiosity. David has a chance encounter with a very dispassionate Jill. Brian spends an enjoyable evening with Pamela Graham, Carol's teacher.
