It took place in West Berlins famous Theater des Westens. It was a live show recorded for German public broadcaster ZDF and other European public broadcasters in order to create a showcase for the European film. This first European film award show reached more than 40 million viewers in Europe. It was produced by Ufa film - producers Konstantin Thoeren and Wolf Bauer. The price ceremony invited famous European actors, directors, producers to give laudatios for the winners to show how popular European film can be. It was an effort to create a popular showcase for excellent European filmmaking. See less
