They are married, and all is happiness, until the call of motherhood comes to the wife. In the garden, baby faces in a vision appear to her. She is rebellious, repulses her husband and takes refuge in her room, where she falls asleep and dreams of the coming of the child and its evil consequences. It seems to her that the boy brings discord and estrangement between his parents. He himself is sorry he ever was born, and at last pushes his mother aside and striking his father he runs away. The woman wakes. She realizes that it is criminal to resist motherhood. Seeking her husband, she reassures him of her love, and together they rejoice in the coming of the child.
