Her uncle, John Martin, the owner of the Centipede Ranch, has been bitten by a "bob" cat. The wound proved fatal and he journeyed to the happy hunting ground. Bud Wilson, the foreman, deemed it his duty to notify Miss Fairweather of her uncle's death and that she was the owner and heir. Miss Fairweather decides to visit the ranch and writes the foreman to that effect. She takes this opportunity to criticize him severely for the ungrammatical manner in which his letter to her explaining the "robert" cat was depicted. Upon receipt of this letter Bud has a fit. Later Miss Fairweather arrives at the ranch. The boys are all lined up in their best Sunday go-to-meeting clothes, expecting to witness the vision of beauty. But when she raises her veil to inspect them, and they get a glimpse of her dried up and shriveled countenance, they decide not to he bossed by her and plan to dispose of her in some way. It is then that the "robert" cat letter is brought forth, and they conceive the idea of fixing up a "robert" cat and scaring her away. The "robert" cat gets under Miss Fairweather's window and the noises that come from under the skin would beat a German band to a frazzle. The German cook conceives the idea of securing Miss Fairweather's appreciation by assuming the character of a hero, and protecting her from the "robert" cat. This he does to her entire satisfaction and after disposing of the "robert" cat the old maid falls in his arms, acclaiming him her hero. He shows Miss Fairweatber the telegram and as apparently a baron is just about what she wants she immediately accepts. The baron secures her forgiveness for the two who played the "robert" cat and the baron tells them that under his reign there will be peace and happiness with the Centipedes at Centipede Ranch.
