After the ceremony and the party, they return home and discover that their apartment has been burgled... Their furniture has been knocked over and all their wedding presents are gone. Faced with this distressing sight, the couple quarrel. But just as Françoise and Antoine are beginning to forget their misadventure, a phone call disrupts their intimacy. The next morning, Antoine, who is preparing for a piano competition at the Conservatoire, sets to work. His mother appears and interrupts him. This possessive mother takes the liberty of inspecting the apartment and giving Françoise advice. The young woman, exasperated, manages to hide her discontent until her mother-in-law leaves. But immediately afterwards, she makes her feelings known. Another domestic dispute erupts.
