The case gets more ...See moreWith the client only asking for Intertect's best man, Lew assigns Mannix to the case despite Mannix constantly breaking the rules. Mannix is dismayed to learn that it is a pure systems case, that of a missing person. The case gets more complex as he learns the missing person is Angela Dubrio, the daughter of aged semi-retired Palm Springs racketeer Sam Dubrio, the client, and that the case is not just that Angela is missing, but that she has been kidnapped in Sam's wife of twenty-two years and Angela's mother, Louise Dubrio, having received a ransom demand of $500,000. Mannix continues with the case despite kidnappings, by law, needing to be handled by the police, Mannix coming to the realization that Sam, in his position, not able to go to the police. Louise provides further information to Mannix as to why Sam seems so clinical in his approach to Angela's kidnapping, despite he willing to pay the ransom. Regardless, Mannix knows that the kidnappers have set up the ransom drop so that the contact person cannot be followed. But Mannix plans to use that ransom drop as a means indeed to lead him to the kidnappers. He will discover that not all that appears on the surface is reality with regard to the kidnapping.
