A bit of horseplay ensues, during which the girl falls through a plate glass door and is badly injured. One of the boys drops the girl off at a hospital emergency room and flees, and before she goes fully unconscious, she tells the attending nurse that 'Joe Jack' was the name of the boy who dropped her off. Sam recognizes Joe Jack as Johnny Taylor, the son of a friend of his, lawyer Royce Taylor. He goes to see them, but doesn't get much help from Johnny, as Royce has advised him not to talk. The girl dies from her injuries, making it a murder case. Sam and Jim manage to bring in the other two boys, but get two different stories of what happened. Dan suggests talking to Johnny again, certain that his version of events is probably closer to the truth. Sam, Jim and Royce head up to a fishing cabin where Johnny is staying, but the boy picks up a hunting rifle and fires on them. See less
