The Barlows hoped to adopt Minnie but instead Miss Prossitt, the Head of Social Services, ordered that Minnie be returned to her biological mother who was now recovered. However the prosecution say that Mr. Barlow ignored the order and took the girl to London. He is now in court accused of child stealing. The defence case is that he was never told that Minnie had to be returned.
