A security guard is assaulted by two would-be burglars, a female mechanic suffers a serious paralyzing injury and Duffy receives the worst news from her ex-boyfriends' sister. Most of the episode is spent with casual references to staff previously related to Holby who have moved on, tying up the loose ends and explaining the character shifts from the end of the last series to the beginning of this one.
