Presently they see Luke Warm and derive a good deal of amusement from his appearance. Billy, the oldest kid, is particularly amused, and is therefore much annoyed when he finds that his big sister Vera has invited Luke to drive the family out for a visit to their country cousins. For Luke and Vera had met violently on a crowded street and fallen as suddenly in love. Luke drives Vera and her family out to the farm. Here Billy and his pal, Fatty, got in some fine work to the discomfiture of Luke. His night is somewhat disturbed, too, by the nightmare antics of the farmer and Fatty, with whom he has to share a bed. Morning dawns, and the family all go for a picnic. Vera is all ready for a swim when she is seen by a band of gypsies, kidnapped, and held for ransom. Fatty sees the kidnapping and runs for help. Luke, ever gallant, heads for the enemy's camp. But he encounters difficulties and Vera's belligerent Aunt Louise is first in the field. She lays out every gypsy in sight, but faints at the sight of a mouse. And the rescued Vera, seeing Luke dashing in, and the prone gypsies, cried "My Hero!" while Billy and Fatty express just what they think about it.
