Benoit lives a hermit-like existence in his home, plunged in near total darkness. How can a man trapped in such predicament live with the people who walk outside in the hot sunlight? The answer is the light he allows through a variety of self-made pinhole cameras (camera obscura) that he uses to project images of his beloved Cecile, the woman who lives across the street from him. Benoit coexists with the two dimensional projection of Cecil. His very existence depends on seeing her, interacting with her and loving her unrequitedly. But today, when Cecil wakes up, she has decided to take her own life. As she goes through what appears to be her normal morning routine, Benoit's finely tuned antennas pick up distressing signals from Cecil's behavior. Soon he must choose between being the shadowed voyeur or the lover he really is and risk his life in the sunlight to save Cecil. Written by
