They learn that it is necessary to procure a license. Tony quickly goes for the permit when he learns that Rosie, too, will have to affix her signature. Confused and anxious he hurries to fetch his bride. When he again appears at the License Bureau he is informed that the document costs two dollars. Tony has left his money with Rosie's papa; he hastens to get it. On the way his passage is blocked by a freight train. In the meanwhile, Rosie's papa goes in search of the groom-elect, pays for and secures the license, and hastens to the church. He is arrested for fast driving and taken with the license to the police station. Tony, who has tried to climb over the obstructing train, is carried to a distant part of the city, and when he and papa finally get back to the waiting family and guests, the story is permitted to run along in a logical way until it reaches a happy and jolly end.
