Calino knocks his assailant down, similarly disposes of two policemen, and makes a bolt for it. He flees into a house, and rushing on bursts into a room where a grand reception is going on. Here the company is awaiting an entertainer, and when Calino appears he is greeted warmly by the hostess. Calino, after insisting upon receiving his fee, amuses the assembly so successfully that he is overwhelmed with attention and plied with refreshments, until he has to be carried off to bed. In the morning he wakes up, finds his old clothes taken away, new ones put on in their place, goes off triumphantly to a restaurant and plays the grand gentleman, giving his cheque to be changed to the waiter with a lordly air.
