Drink had made him ugly, and he threatened the man. Then he lapsed into unconsciousness. When he awoke the next morning in a strange room and, wandering through the money-lender's house, came upon the man dead, with a great gash in his skull, terror seized him. Fleeing from the police, who find his bloodstained stick beside the body, he reaches an old house and overhears the real murderers quarreling over the spoils. They discover him, and a fight ensues.
