He is a one-man show, doing the villain, the hero and even the heroine. As he speaks the words of the villain, the house detective is listening at - the door and takes to his heels in fright. Bobby tries to sell his play to a famous French actress, Yvette, but she is a hound for publicity and her press agent agrees to buy the play if Bobby will pretend to commit suicide for unrequited love for the star so she can get her name in the headlines. Bobby agrees to do anything to sell the play as Betty, his sweetheart, has a very disagreeable father who has told Bobby that he would have to sell the play before he could marry his daughter. So Bobby drinks the supposed poison just as the press agent has admitted two newspaper reporters. One of them happens to be Bobby's rival in love. He suggests an antidote. for the poison and prepares a mixture of everything hot he can find in the kitchen. The reporters force this into Bobby's mouth and it nearly burns him up. Jimmie, the rival, then leaves to tell Betty that Bobby is committing suicide because of Yvette. In the meantime the press agent sees that his plan has fallen flat and suggests that Bobby jump out of the window. Bobby is on the sill thinking of all kinds of ways to postpone the catastrophe when Betty and her dad come in. This saves Bobby from diving out of the tenth-floor window, and convinces the newspaper men that he intended taking his life. Bobby sells his play but Betty is furious over his love affair with Yvette. She won't listen, but Bobby finally gets Yvette to explain the situation to Betty, and the sweethearts are reconciled.
