She is contented until she meets Jack Brooks, a young city man, and falls in love with him. When her mother tries to force her to marry Joe, Jack takes her to the city with him, where his cousin, Marie, siding with his mother, against the girl, leads Jane to believe that Jack is ashamed of her. Joe, meanwhile, has followed the girl to the city, and when she prepares to leave, heartbroken, he takes her back to her mother. Jack finds her pathetic little note, and learning of Marie's duplicity and the suffering which it had caused, follows her. There Joe, who blames the city man, nearly takes his life, but the girl intervenes, and convinces the countryman that she loves Jack. After a mighty struggle, Joe renounces all claim to her, and "The Flower of the Hills" becomes the bride of the city man. Written by Moving Picture World synopsis See less
