They follow the thief up to where they find them in possession of a nut in a lunatic asylum. In order to get possessions of the plans, the, who pretend they are nutty and are admitted - Visitors are shown around the asylum by one of the guards and the "nuts" pointed out to them. Later, through a trick, Joe and Monte manage to get the plans from the nut who has them - and vault the fence and escape. The guards pursue them - and leave the gates open. The other "nuts" follow in the chase. They manage however to elude both pursuing parties end get safely back to their captain, to whom they give the plans. The guards coming up want to take them away but the captain explains that they are detectives, and congratulates them on the safe return of the plans.
